New P2P Application MOOT!!!!!

There is a new app on the P2P Scene and it goes by the name of “Moot”.
Moot is a p2p application for mobile phones and laptops. The
application allows users to share content locally, chat and express
themselves to their surroundings. The uniqueness of Moot is that Moot
connects people that are in the proximity of each other. E.g people at
a café. Moot utilizes wifi and people within the same hotspot are
connected on the fly.
The meaning is to open up a new channel for sharing and interaction.
How cool it would be to walk into a café, campus or just walking down
the street and all kind of content is suddenly available as you move
around.
The functionality of Moot is to discover other people and content in
the proximity of the user. Users can chat, give each other respect and
show their statement. With Moot users can ask encounters to be
friends. The user has absolute control of which files that are made
available for others do discover and download.
The company behind Moot is Ground Control Labs. Ground Control Labs is
a small Norwegian company. The idea of Moot arised out of fascination
for p2p and social networks. The crew felt that what was missing on
the file sharing scene was an application that made people discover
all the content they are surrounded by as they walk around. People are
carrying a lot of cool stuff with them both on laptops and mobile
phones. The idea of the local “browser” arised. It was called Moot to
bring associations to meetings between people.
As today Moot runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 phones with touch pad and
XP/Vista. An iPhone version is on its way. User profile pages on web
are also developed. Here users can keep track on their moot actions,
their respect counts and friends.
The concept behind Moot is a solid one. You can get files or make friends with the people next to you without hassle of worrying about a warning or a cutoff from your ISP. Considering how things are these days, this is a BIGGGGG PLUS.
